Aftercare

2nd Skin

Once your tattoo session is complete the artist will clean the area and place 2nd skin over your tattoo.

We use a product called Dermalize pro. This is a protective film that seals the area creating a barrier for your tattoo and skin to heal naturally. It is breathable, water and dust resistant allowing you have the most hassle free healing experience.

  • Keep the 2nd skin on for 48-72 hours. You can keep it on longer but we wouldn't recommend this.

  • Slowly remove the 2nd skin under warm running water, we would recommend a shower so you can wash the area. Do not use highly perfumed soap, do not scrub, gently wash the area.

  • Pat dry with a clean paper towel or air dry, then moisturise (non scented or what your artist has recommended)

  • Moisturise 2- 3 times a day for the next 2 weeks (moisturise straight after a shower)

CAUTION:\If

  • If you notice any redness of normal skin under the 2nd skin (not the sore tattoo) or rash around 24 hrs, please take off immediately. You have had a slight allergic reaction, please contact the studio.

  • Avoid excessive sweating as this will dissolve the adhesive on the 2nd skin

  • Do not soak in water before 48 hrs (you can shower with it on, restrict the amount of water on the 2nd skin, it is only water resistant not water proof)

  • Do not expose to strong sunlight

  • Do not wear tight clothing

  • Do not soak in water or go swimming for 2 weeks

  • Clean with a light soapy lather. Pat dry with a clean paper towel or air dry. Let some air get to your tattoo so it can breathe

  • After a few hours apply a small amount of bepanthen and cover with a fresh piece of cling film

  • The cling film will help protect the cream to allow it to soak into your skin and feel more comfortable under clothes. Keep this on for a few hours

  • Repeat the above process of cleaning, applying cream and airing out (4 to 5 times a day if possible for the first 24 hours, this can be reduced to what you feel is necessary for the next 3 days)
